A National Day of Action to Support Bike Lanes!

On April 21, 2026, people across America will ride in solidarity with the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA), the people of Washington, DC, and with every community fighting to protect common-sense investments in safe streets.

WABA is fighting the removal of the 15th St. Protected Bike Lane in Washington D.C. that runs across the National Mall to the Jefferson Memorial. A bike lane that has saved lives, reduced crashes, and created safer streets for all. The removal is being justified to ease traffic. WABA has sued the federal government to stop the removal and keep our streets safe.

Join Hawai‘i Bicycling League in supporting the League of American Bicyclists and WABA for a national day of action. Ride your local streets. Show your community. Show Congress. As Congress is working an updated Surface Transportation Reauthorization Act, it is crucial we show our support for infrastructure that helps keep vulnerable road users safe. Bike lanes save lives, and we won’t stop standing up for these public investments.

Get on your bike. Ride your local bike lane, path, or street. It doesn’t need to be long; even a short neighborhood loop counts. Invite as many people as you can, including business leaders and elected officials.

Join this national movement locally here in Hawai‘i at Thomas Square Park on Tuesday, April 21st, starting at 4:30pm. Ride the S. King Street Bike Lane or Rally with us as we make it clear that BIKE LANES SAVE LIVES!
