After conversations with officials and community partners on the North Shore, Hawai‘i Bicycling League has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Hale‘iwa Metric Century Ride, scheduled for April 26, due to the storm impacts from the recent Kona low storms. We do not want this large event to hamper the short- or long-term recovery efforts.
The North Shore is not only the home of one of our signature rides, but also a place where many of our members live, where we advocate for roadway and community improvements, and where we have built lasting partnerships over decades. We remain firmly committed to that work. We are also looking to plan a volunteer day in the near future that aligns with our mission and decades of partnership with North Shore communities.
Those already registered for the Hale‘iwa Metric Century will be contacted shortly. We have also decided to cancel the upcoming Mokulē‘ia Time Trial and Waialua Fun Ride. We look forward to a robust Bike Month in May and Honolulu Century Ride on September 27th. We will provide additional details in the near future regarding opportunities to support recovery efforts across impacted communities.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
Mahalo,
Travis Counsell
