9/26/26 – Saturday – 8am – Ride Aloha Festival Weather Update
Preparations continue as originally planned for the Ride Aloha Festival. We are closely tracking updates from the City & County of Honolulu, as well as Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency.
At this time, all events will continue as scheduled. Packet Pickup is today, Saturday, from 10am to 4pm at the Ala Wai Clubhouse Ballroom. Honolulu Century Ride start is at 6:15am on Sunday, 9/27, with late check-in beginning at 5am near the Queen Kapi‘olani Statue. Aloha Fun Ride start is 9:30am near Kapi‘olani Bandstand. National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for O‘ahu until 6pm on Sunday, as follows:
- WHAT…East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph.
- WHERE…Niihau, Kauai, and Oahu. The strongest winds are expected on Oahu, especially over and downwind of terrain.
- WHEN…Until 6 PM HST Sunday.
- IMPACTS…Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles.
- INSTRUCTIONS: Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down. Be prepared for power outages.
Hawai’i Bicycling League has prepared additional instructions for our aid stations regarding limiting tent usage and securing aid station supplies. Please be prepared for aid station modifications.
We also request that participants ride with caution and ride within their ability. Strong winds can be dangerous.
We will post on additional update this evening prior to the ride. Given the current forecast, we are moving forward with all events as originally scheduled.
9/24/26 – Thursday – 1pm – Ride Aloha Festival Weather Update
Preparations continue as originally planned for the Ride Aloha Festival. We are closely tracking updates from the City & County of Honolulu, as well as Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency. As of 1pm on Thursday, officials are noting that the worst impacts are expected on Hawai’i Island and Maui County, with no formal warnings for O‘ahu.
At this time, all events will continue as scheduled.
9/23/26 – Wednesday at 2pm – Ride Aloha Festival Weather Update
Aloha Ride Aloha Festival participants, volunteers, and HBL supporters,
Hawaiʻi Bicycling League is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Nolo, as we prepare for this weekend’s Ride Aloha Festival, which includes the Honolulu Century Ride, Aloha Fun Ride, and Finish Festival at Kapi‘olani Park.
At this time, all events will continue as scheduled.
Current forecasts indicate that the greatest impacts from Nolo are expected across Hawaiʻi Island and Maui County, while the current forecast does not indicate significant concerns for Oʻahu. We are closely monitoring updates from the National Weather Service and HIEMA and will continue to assess conditions through ride day on Sunday.
The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and community is our highest priority. If conditions change and we determine that changes to the event are necessary, we will communicate those decisions as quickly and clearly as possible, with another update planned for midday on Friday, 9/25. Participants and volunteers will be notified via email if any changes occur.
We encourage everyone participating this weekend to monitor the latest weather information and be prepared for changing conditions.
We also want to acknowledge that the Ride Aloha Festival and Honolulu Century Ride are about more than a single weekend of riding. This is HBL’s largest fundraiser of the year, and proceeds directly support our year-round work to make Hawaiʻi safer and more accessible for people who ride bicycles.
Your support helps fund programs that advance bicycle education for keiki to kūpuna, community outreach, and advocacy for safer streets and better bicycle infrastructure across Hawaiʻi.
