July is Bike Month in Hawai‘i!
Celebrate Bike Month with HBL & Friends
Summer time is upon us and July 2024 is Bike Month at Hawaiʻi Bicycling League! Grab your bike and join us for a ride, a Pau Hana, or a volunteer opportunity. We have a month full of events to encourage you to get out and explore via bike. Join us for one event or join us for all of them. We hope to see you out there!
Bike Month 2024 Events:
7/02 (Tue) Bike to SALT Mingle
5pm – 9pm
@ SALT at Our Kaka‘ako
Our Bike Month Kick Off Event!!! HBL will be providing Bike Valet from 5-9pm at SALT, so that you can come down to Kaka‘ako to eat, drink, and mingle. Check your bike in at our valet in the barn and if you show your bike valet slip you’ll get a discount at these businesses:

7/05 (FRI) Beer Release: Hana Koa x HBL Collab

We teamed up with our friends at Hana Koa and brewed a cool, refreshing beer for Bike Month! Cucumber Wheel is a kolsch made with copious amounts of cucumber and a touch of mint. Join us for a Pau Hana and raise a glass of our collaboration beer, quench your thirst, and help support HBL in the process.
Hana Koa will be donating 10% of the sales of our collaboration, Cucumber Wheel, to Hawai‘i Bicycling League all month long so stop by and buy a 4 pack before it sells out!

7/07 (Sun) Cycle Swap Meet

Bike frames? You got it. New bikes? Most likely! Parts? Accessories? Deals? Yes, yes, and yes! Come by HBL’s Cycle Swap Meet and scoop up that elusive bike part you’ve been looking for. If you’ve got stuff you wanna get rid of, this is the perfect place to do some spring cleaning! The Cycle Swap Meet is free and open to the public, but for best deals– plan to be there early!

7/10 (Wed) Bike Lane Cleanup

Time to grab some brooms and shovels and clean up the Ward Ave. bike lane with Patagonia and the Department of Facility Maintenance. Our Bike Lane Menehunes recently replaced over 70 bollards on Ward Ave. and it will look extra fresh with some cleaning.

7/14 (Sun) Bike to the Train
8:45am – 1pm (Train departs at 11am)
@ Hawaiian Railway Society
Bike with us to the Hawaiian Railway Society! Hop on the train and relax all the way to Kahe Point and back. When we return to the train yard, chow down on pizza and hydrate while talking story and learning about the Leeward Bikeway. Ticket required to ride the train and enjoy lunch.
We’ll have ride options from N. Blaisdell park along the bike path or via Skyline. Learn more here.
7/15 (MON) Lāhainā Noon Ride
11:30am – 1:30pm (Lāhainā Noon @12:37pm)
@ Sky Gate
Join Chris at Old Stadium Park by 11:30am for a short urban bike ride down the King Street Cycle Track to witness Lāhainā Noon at the Sky Gate. Lāhainā Noon is when the sun is passing directly overhead and as a result perfectly vertical objects will not have a shadow. Afterwards we’ll ride to SALT for a sweet, cool treat from 7Gradi Gelato. 7/28 (Sun) Helmet Giveaway
11am – 3pm

Need a helmet? Hawai‘i Bicycling League is supporting smart cycling & celebrating Bike Month 2024 with a FREE helmet giveaway. To help those who don’t have a helmet yet, HBL is giving away over 300 new bicycle helmets on July 28th (Sunday), starting at 11am, at The Barn @ SALT Kaka‘ako.
Bicycle helmets will be available in a variety of colors and sizes for keiki and adults. All recipients will receive a complimentary helmet fitting from Hawai‘i Bicycling League’s staff & trained volunteers to ensure proper helmet fit. Helmets will be available, first-come, first-served while supplies last. One per person.
You’ve only got one brain – protect it when you bike!

7/31 (Wed) Bike Month Pau Hana
5:30 – 8:30pm
@ Hub Coworking Hawai‘i
Join HBL at Hub Coworking Hawai’i for a pau hana to celebrate bike month! We’ll have pūpū, beverages (provided by Deschutes Brewing and JuneShine ), live music, and information from Bike Month partners! We’ll also be playing Bike Month Bingo at 7:00pm for great conversations (and a chance to win sweet prizes!).
