Ride with Aloha: Please follow all traffic laws, signs, and signals, plus any requests from the HPD special duty officers on course. Please ride single file (this is law in Hawaii) and to the right of the lane. Please signal to the riders/drivers behind you when merging into the travel lane. Hawai‘i HRS291C-145 allows a cyclist to control the whole lane when it’s too narrow for a car and a bike to share the lane as well as to avoid hazards. For more info on the laws, please visit our Bike Laws page. Please report aggressive / dangerous drivers to HPD by calling 911.

Pass with Care: When passing a rider, please make sure it is clear to do so, then pass on the left. Be sure to signal visually (for riders and drivers behind) and vocally, “passing on your left” for rider ahead.

After the ride enjoy ‘ono food and lively music in the park. Make sure to check out the HBL merchandise tent and other vendors, while hanging out with new friends and soaking in that great feeling of accomplishment for completing your distance goal.

Smile! Official ride photos will be taken by MarathonFoto at different locations along the route. Photos will be available for purchase a week or two after the ride. You’ll receive an email with links to your best shots!

Tag HBL in your photos on Instagram and Facebook! Follow @hblridealoha and use #AFR24 and #RideAloha! You can also email your best photos to HBL.

The Aloha Fun Ride is an untimed ride in which riders roll at their own pace. There are no official finishing places or times. This is a family friendly ride that focuses on fun, not speed!

Directional signage will be placed at turns and intersections.

Course map will be available at packet pickup.

If you’re not positive that you bike is in top shape, take it to your friendly local bike store for a quick tune-up. At many shops, no appointment is necessary and the tune-up should take a relatively short amount of time. However, it’s polite to call and ask before showing up with your bike. Make Sure Your Bike Fits You – The biggest problem facing most cyclists is bike fit. Nearly all cyclists need some sort of adjustment to their bikes in order to achieve maximum performance. And while you may feel comfortable at first, as your body adapts, your bike may need readjustment. An improperly fit bike can cause an uncomfortable riding experience or even injury. If your knees hurt, chances are you are riding an improperly adjusted bike. Take your bike in to your local bike store to have it professionally fitted.

Many local bike shops offer bike rentals. Call early and reserve! The Bike Shop Honolulu offers Specialized road, mountain, and commuter style bikes. Hawaiian Style Rentals & Sales offers city style bikes. Velohana offers great value with performance road bikes by Chapter 2, Argon 18, Bianchi & more. They also offer a full service suite to help people prepare for the event. Boca Hawaii offers road bike & tri bike rentals. They can accommodate a custom match if you provide them with the size of bike needed and dates of desired rental period.

Also check out SpinLister for more options.

Electric Assist Bikes are allowed in the Aloha Fun Ride as long as the bike does require pedal force to operate and the rider agrees to ride at safe and controlled speeds and follow all the customary rider courtesy and safety requirements expected of riders using standard non-assisted bikes.

Parking is available in the Kapi‘olani Park lots (near Waikīkī Shell), on the street along Paki Avenue, and in the surrounding area. If you live in the neighborhood, we encourage you to bike over or carpool! Please avoid parking in any reserved or no parking stalls.

The event is not only a community ride that celebrates cycling as a fun & healthy activity and brings more awareness to bicycling safety, but ultimately is a fundraising event for HBL. Expenses are incurred before the ride takes place. For that reason, no deferrals or refunds will be processed.

Ride registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Forfeited Ride registrations are treated as a donation. HBL, in its sole discretion, may delay, modify, or cancel the Ride for any reason, including if it believes the conditions on the ride day are unsafe. In the event the Ride is delayed, modified, or cancelled, including but not limited to acts of the elements (including without limitation, wind, rain, hurricane, tsunami), acts of terrorism, fire, public disaster, flood, course conditions, or any other cause beyond the control of HBL, there shall be no refund of the Ride entry fee or any other costs incurred in connection with the Ride.
