Bikes for Maui

On Tuesday, August 8th 2023, wildfires on Maui destroyed much of Lahaina, and also impacted communities in Kula and Kīhei. HBL sends our condolences to all that have been impacted by this disaster. We want to do our part to provide support to those in need.

We believe bicycles can be a part of the recovery effort. They can provide a mode of transportation, an opportunity for recreation and mental escape, and more. Much of the focus will be on youth bikes as we believe providing kids a way to have fun and smile is extremely important on the path to recovery.

HBL is working with community partners, including bike shops on O‘ahu and Maui, to get bicycles to those impacted by the wildfires on Maui. We are accepting monetary donations to help cover the costs associated with shipping, purchasing, and distributing new bicycles. As well as taking donations of ready-to-roll bicycles and distributing those.

We are working with our local chapter, Maui Bicycling League, on efforts to provide bicycles for transportation purposes to those impacted in the Lahaina area. More details on their website – Maui Bicycling League Bikes4Maui

We are also working with Krank Cycles on Maui who has a shipping container of 300+ donated new bikes enroute from the mainland. We’re helping to fundraise to cover the cost of shipping (appox. $15,000) and the logistics of distribution. Learn more here and donate below.

This situation is every evolving, so check back for updates.

Please see the form below to provide a monetary donation.

We are working with bike shops on O‘ahu and Maui to accept used bicycles in good working order to be distributed to Maui residents in need. Donated bicycles should be functional and in “ready to roll” condition so that they can bring the most aid to people affected by the fires.

Bicycle donations can be arranged directly with the shops listed below. Please contact the shop during store hours to schedule a drop-off time before stopping by. Feel free to reach out to HBL with any questions at bicycle@HBL.org or 808-735-5756.
