Public workshops held November 20th and 23rd
Hundreds of community members turned out to view more than two dozen renderings of a planned Ala Pono bicycle and pedestrian bridge over two days in November. “The bridge is a key component of the City’s Complete Streets network of bicycle and pedestrian paths,” DTS Director Roger Morton said in a news release.
While HBL does not favor a particular bridge design, “the project is vital for safety, connectivity, and ensuring affordable transportation options for residents and visitors,” said Advocacy Director Eduardo Hernandez.
“Input provided through these sessions will help the City to identify the best option to inform the design/build RFP that is planned to be issued in 2025,” he continued.
HBL encourages our members and supporters to continue speaking to your city council member, the mayor and local neighborhood board representatives about the importance of Complete Streets in the months ahead. Local news coverage of the workshops can be found here.
