The Ride of Silence is a solemn annual event held each May to honor cyclists who have been injured or killed on public roads. Participants will ride slowly and silently through the streets of Honolulu, wearing white, in a powerful show of remembrance and a call for safer streets.Ride%20of%20Silence%20Route.png

What to expect:
Hawai‘i Bicycling League and HPD will be hosting the start and finish at Old Stadium Park. HBL will have white placards and markers if you wish to write someone’s name and pin it to your shirt in remembrance, HPD will have bike lights to give away and we encourage everyone to wear white and will have some white shirts available for a suggested donation. After a short speech from HBL, we’ll collectively go for a quite 6 mile ride down King Street, around Kaka‘ako, and then biking back on King Street.

When:
Wednesday, May 21st, from 7pm to 8pm

Why:
The ride raises awareness about the need for motorists to share the road and underscores HBL’s commitment to making Hawai‘i a safer place to bike.
