We are excited to announce that the 2025 Honolulu Century Ride outbound course will include the Kaiwi Coastline. Riders will enjoy a car-free Kaiwi Coastline from Hanauma Bay to Sandy Beach Park. The views from this route are outstanding and we are excited to add them to our ride.
This route is included for all riders, regardless of distance, so long as they reach Lunalilo Home Road by 7:45am (1hr & 30min after start). We encourage people to ride the distance that best suites them (25/50/75/100).
The first aid station and 25 mile turn-around is at Sandy Beach Park. This is right after the Kaiwi Coastline section. For novice riders, 25 miles is a great goal and you’ll get to experience the Kaiwi Coastline like never before!
HBL has received approval from the Department of Transportation Services to add this to our 2025 roadway use permit. There will be roadway detours and adjustments on Kalaniana‘ole Highway from Lunalilo Home Road to Kealahou St.
A few safety notes for riders:
- Keep to the right of the centerlines.
- Be cautious of the rumble strips.
- Only stop at the lookout points.
- Stay alert and ride with aloha.
- After 7:45 riders will be directed left onto Lunalilo Home Rd, instead of continuing on the highway.
- Roadway reopens to vehicles at 8am. You’re not required to exit by then, but it will no longer be closed to vehicle traffic so ride with caution.
Notes for drivers:
- Hanauma bay will be accessible from Hawaii Kai only.
- Kalaniana‘ole Hwy will be closed to all cars from Hanauma Bay to the entrance of Sandy Beach Park from 6am to 8am.
- Access to Koko Head Shooting Complex and the Lookouts along the Kaiwi Coast will be accessible after 8:00 am.
- Drivers will be rerouted via Kealahou St, Hawaii Kai Dr, and Lunalilo Home Rd to get past the temporary closure.
