Interested in going electric? Get familiar with the e-bike essentials – bring your e-bike or test ride one in this helpful educational workshop!

Electric bike sales have soared over the last few years and the momentum keeps going as they become more accessible and affordable. If you’ve already found yourself an e-bike and are looking to learn more about operating it safely, keeping it in good shape, and unlocking it’s potential, this workshop is for you! Still in the decision stage? This workshop is also for you, as you’ll get to know about the different e-bike types, classifications, standard parts, and more, but best of all, learn how to ride one safely by getting to test ride an e-bike for this workshop!

This workshop includes:

  • The benefits of electric bicycles
  • Different available options (pedal-assist VS throttle, etc.)
  • Breakdown of e-bike classes & what’s the law say about riding them in Hawai‘i
  • Introduction of e-bike parts & basic maintenance
  • How to safely operate an e-bike (including on-bike practice)
  • Getting the most out of your e-bike (battery life, modulating speed, equipment safety check, etc.)
  • Instructor-led test ride to get a complete understanding operating your e-bike (bring yours or reserve one for this workshop to try at no cost).

This is designed for the beginner and intermediate level rider but advanced riders are welcomed as well, you can never be too safe!

Those that register for this course can note they are bringing their own e-bike or opt to borrow an e-bike for this class (through registration). Ride eBikes Hawaii is generously offering e-bikes to test ride for the duration of this workshop at no charge. Ride eBikes Hawaii started in 2021 and offers ebike rentals, sales, and tours. They love getting people outside and enjoying all that Hawai‘i has to offer. Their slogan is “Get Outside Hawaii!!!” You can check out their website at: www.rideebikeshawaii.com.

This free workshop is offered quarterly by HBL, and is capped to TEN students per session. Pre-registration is required. Must be 16 years of age or older to ride.

HBL’s League Cycling Instructors, certified nationally by the League of American Bicyclists, lead all of HBL’s adult cycling courses, but all registered e-bike workshop students are treated to a special bonus with a guest presenter & expert in the world of electric bikes.

This workshop is put on by the Hawaii Bicycling League in partnership with Ride eBikes Hawaii, and funded through a grant from the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Transportation Services.

Cancellation / No-Show Fee

For cancellations/no-shows with less than 24 hours notice there will be a $20.00 cancellation/no-show fee for costs incurred. If you cannot attend your scheduled workshop, please contact HBL’s Adult Education Manager at Malia@HBL.org or text/call (808) 457-5401 as soon as possible. Because these workshops have limited bikes, no-shows and late cancellations deprive someone else from the opportunity to learn. As a small nonprofit trying to change the world one person at a time, we appreciate your understanding!

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
