Ride Options:

Option 1: Neal Blaisdell Park to Hawaiian Railway Society

  • 8 mile (16 mile round trip) ride along the Pearl Harbor Bike Path and portions of the future Leeward Bikeway. We’ll avoid the dirt sections if muddy! There will be some off-road areas, so skinny tires are not recommended.

Option 2: Kapapapuhi Point Park (AKA West Loch Community Shoreline Park) to Hawaiian Railway Society

  • 3 mile (6 mile round trip) ride along the park paths, path of the future Leeward Bikeway, then along Renton Road to the train yard. While paved for the majority of the ride, it is rough in some areas.

Option 3: Meet at the Hawaiian Railway Society

  • Plan your own ride or park at the train yard. Be there by 10:40am as the train departs at 11:00am sharp!

This is an organized group ride, with a private train ride and lunch. While most of the route is on bike paths, some riding on the road is necessary. Roads will not be closed to traffic; we will ride as a group and follow all traffic laws. This is a family friendly ride. No need to worry about a lock! HBL will watch the bicycles while you are on the train.

Please choose your starting option with your riding ability in mind. While this is a casual ride, 18 miles is a long distance if you are not prepared. Fret not, that’s why we have a short 6 mile option from Kapapapuhi Point Park, plus an option to meet us there. If you have additional questions, please email bicycle@hbl.org

Leeward Bikeway

The Bike to the Train event is also a Leeward Bikeway Exploratory Ride that explores the future Leeward Bikeway. The Leeward Bikeway Phase I is currently under construction and once complete it will link the Pearl Harbor Bike Path and West Loch Bike Path to create a continuous 10-mile bike path from Aloha Stadium to Hawaiian Railway Society in ‘Ewa! Scheduled completion is December 31, 2023.
