Ways to achieve this include: mixing residential and business land uses, provding safe pedestrian and bicycle facilities and providing high quality transit service..." - Florida 2020 Transportation Plan Information: Bike Plan Hawai'i: The State of Hawai'i's plan exists through the Department of Transportation (DOT). In 1991, legistlation passed the Intermodal Surface Trasportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) which required, among other items, that each state appoint a Bicycle Coordinator. Folding Bikes : A New Approach to Urban Transportation Master Bicycling Plan: The City and County of Honolulu's plan exists through the Department of Transportation Services (DTS). The City and County of Honolulu's Bicycle Coordinator is Chris Sayers. Section 6-17: In 2006, over 77% of voters in Honolulu voted yes to the City Charter Amendment 8, “Should one of the priorities of the Department of Transportation Services be to make Honolulu a pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly city. Information Strategic Highway Safety Plan: Their mission of the program is to reduce the number and severity of traffic-related injuries and deaths on Hawaii's roadways through the development of a Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). Smart Growth : The City and County of Honolulu's Department of Planning and Permitting, Planning Division helps establish, promote, and implement long-range planning programs for Honolulu which reflect the community's values, priorities, and visions for the future. Sustainable Communities Plans include Central Oahu, East Honolulu, Ewa, Koolaupoko, Koolauloa, North Shore, Primary Urban Center, and Waianae.
